You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.

- Khalil Gibran

Speak To Us of Children

And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said,

Speak to us of Children.

And he said: Your children are not your children.

They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.

They come through you but not from you,

And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,

For they have their own thoughts.

You may house their bodies but not their souls,

For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.

For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.

The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.

Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;

For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.

Khalil Gibran (1883 – 1931)
from his book The Prophet

Several years ago, our nephew was diagnosed as autistic.  Adrienne and Tony have dedicated themselves to providing Marco an opportunity to experience life to its fullest and to help him reach out and communicate with the world around him.  Adrienne and Tony feel a commitment to share their trials and triumphs, information and resources with those who also live with this challenge.  As a result, this site has been created to provide resource information to parents, children, and individuals who are touched by autism.

In addition, Adrienne has created an online network, Community Partnership for People with Autism (CPPA).  The efforts and projects within CPPA are directed toward the autism population in Scotch Plains, Fanwood, Westfield, and neighboring towns in New Jersey who have unique needs.  Hopefully, this type of initiative can be duplicated or expanded to support the inclusion of all special needs residents in these and other towns.  It is the goal that CPPA will help to guide and support the educational, emotional, spiritual, and social welfare of individuals with autism and their families in all aspects of our community. If you have an interest in joining or supporting this program, we welcome your participation. This link  is open to the public. -- CPPA
