Autism
National Committee |
http://www.autcom.org/default.htm
Autcom is an autism advocacy organization dedicated to
"Social Justice for All Citizens with Autism" through a shared vision and a
commitment to positive approaches. Our organization was founded in 1990 to
protect and advance the human rights and civil rights of all persons with
autism, Pervasive Developmental Disorder, and related differences of
communication and behavior. In the face of social policies of devaluation,
which are expressed in the practices of segregation, medicalization, and
aversive conditioning, we assert that all individuals are created equal and
endowed with certain inalienable rights, and that among these are life,
liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. |

Autism Networks |
www.autismnetworks.com
There are many organizations that help
a small population around their immediate area, and most are only able
to help the English speaking population. As a result, those who do not speak
English are left out in the cold.
Autism Networks' goal is to use the latest technology to provide autism
related resources to parents and professionals around the world, no matter
what language they speak. IDEA clearly states that special education
programs must use "proven methods of teaching and learning" and must be
based on "replicable research." Our workshops provide professional
development coursework to ensure that school administrators, teachers and
assistants have the tools needed to be in compliance with this IDEA
expectation. Autism Networks also provides supervision to school
districts, pre-schools, daycare centers and home based programs. Our dynamic
group consists of behavioral psychologists, special educators and
speech/language pathologists, who are well versed in a variety of teaching
modalities from TEACCH to Applied Behavior Analysis to PECS. |
